I think it&#8217;s what life is about, and I love that many technologies and software products are communities. I never got into Rails, mostly because I don&#8217;t even consider myself a developer, but Zed Shaw&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zedshaw.com\/rants\/rails_is_a_ghetto.html\">Rails is a Ghetto<\/a> rant is awesome. I love this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> I swear if someone says they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re starting a social network I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m gonna beat them with the heel of my shoe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I feel the same way. How do I know so many people that are creating the next myspace\/facebook\/google right now? Anyways<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><code>If they have a blog, speak at conferences, publish papers, \r\nor write books then they are <strong>public figures<\/strong> just like me.<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>This means that thanks to Larry Flynt I can stab them in the ear verbally, insult them, question their sexual orientation, and say anything that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s true and they just have to take it.  Their only recourse is to write their pathetic little rebuttals in their stupid little blogs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This ties in interestingly to recent posts about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loftninjas.org\/rants\/?p=67\">being public online<\/a> and other shiz about <a href=\"http:\/\/jcmc.indiana.edu\/vol8\/issue3\/wellman.html\">internet communities<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a huge fan of community.
